Akwi Nji is an interdisciplinary artist creating in words, performance, and visual art. She often creates participatory art that engages community members as collaborative art-makers.

For instance, as a writer and poet, she has produced poetry and spoken word events for communities throughout the Midwest region. She has been commissioned by municipalities, companies, and organizations to write poetry for various events and occasions, including poetry that was eventually stamped in concrete in a community pocket park in Marshalltown. Other poems are performed at live to transform everyday events into unforgettable experiences.

Her visual art often integrates fabric collage and includes a participatory and storytelling component with community-building at the nucleus of her work.
