I am a blade smith living and working in Des Moines, Iowa.  I use traditional hand forging methods and natural materials to make high quality knives and tools worthy of the most discerning chef or sportsman.  Using a hammer and anvil, I form hot steel into beautiful and practical tools that celebrate the natural materials they are made from, including many local and native woods. I also sew the leather sheaths that hold them.  I believe in creating high quality, sustainable and beautiful tools that can be used for a lifetime and passed on to the next generation.  As a lifelong outdoorsman, I have practical experience with tools that work in the field.  I try to combine the practical with the aesthetic to create a conduit to the outdoors you can hold in your hand.  A handmade knife or tool will last a lifetime, provide superior performance and be a source of pride and beauty to whoever uses it.
