I’m an illustrator and writer whose playful, character-led work is rooted in storytelling, infusing meaningful narratives with humor to explore themes of identity, joy, and human connection.

I studied illustration, design, and writing at The New School (BFA Parsons, BA Eugene Lang) and went on to work as a marketing designer and illustrator in-house for HarperCollins Children’s Books (NYC), dscout (Chicago), and 2U (remote), before going freelance in 2022. I then partnered with creative agencies like Ruca and Aquent, as well as directly with brand studios and creative marketers, to bring ideas to life visually with design-led illustration – from visual libraries and animations to event graphics and merch.

Big life changes since the pandemic have turned my creative focus towards illustrative storytelling, with my favorite type of work blending honesty, imagination, humor, and empathy. I now work from my home studio in central Iowa. I am available for freelance editorial and commercial projects.

Use this section to get the parent/child taxonomies for a single post being viewed

The above pulls in each of the parents within the artist-discipline taxonomy , which is good, if I want to display them alone without their children.
Terms: Cartooning/Graphic Novel
Terms: Illustration
Terms: Illustration/Drawing
Terms: Literary Arts
Terms: Visual

I need to probably display these like this:

Dance: Ballroom, General, Hip Hop, Jazz.

Design: General, Graphic

Will need to figure out how to return the sub categories (artist-discipline) for each parent individually and then loop through all parents assigned to the CPT (artist) being viewed.

In this section I was able to successfully pull all sub categories that belongs to the 2 parents selected. This could be good if I was trying to show all possible choices under that parent, but what I really need is to pull just the selected ones back.
