
Jeff Rufus Byrd has worn weird outfits all over the globe. Byrd is a performance and video artist whose art has been exhibited in galleries, museums and festivals in major cities across the US and in 15 other countries across four continents. He is fascinated by the relationship between artifice and reality. Using costumes, masks, puppets and other avatars, Byrd explores gender, identity, and power. His work in the collection of the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art in New York.
Byrd is a frequent lecturer at art schools and universities, including Parson’s School of Design in New York; University of the Arts in Philadelphia; the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston; and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His art has been featured in various books published by Brown & Benchmark, Simon & Schuster, Routledge Press, and Rizzoli International.
