Kat Schmidt is a printmaker and artist based in Des Moines, Iowa, specializing in woodblock and linoleum relief printmaking since 2014. In addition to her printmaking practice, she explores the alchemical qualities of encaustic painting in her recent series, Wax Cathedral. Her work draws inspiration from the flowing forms of Art Nouveau and cultural anthropology.

Schmidt earned her Bachelor of Arts in Art and Visual Culture from Iowa State University in 2015, with a focus on printmaking and painting. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout Iowa and Missouri in various juried and group exhibitions.
