
I earned a Ph.D. in interdisciplinary fine arts at Texas Tech University and an M.F.A. in ceramics and sculpture. I am a full-time ceramist and adjunct art faculty at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa. My pottery and ceramic sculptures are available for purchase. I am available for commissions, selling my work at festivals/fairs, and teaching classes. Previously, I worked as an assistant professor of art and taught at Texas A&M International University, University of Brunei Darussalam, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Hong Kong Baptist University, Mississippi University for Women, and Gustavus Adolphus College. I received several residencies, including a Taiwan Ceramics Residency at New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum, a Shigaraki Ceramic Studio Artist Residency, an Ottawa School of Art Residency, a Women’s Studio Workshop Residency, a Visiting Research Fellowship, and a University Fellowship. I have participated in more than 150 regional and international art exhibitions including 18 solo exhibitions. My artworks have been exhibited in venues such as the Museum of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, Guangdong Museum of Art, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Fine Arts (Santa Fe), Kunstquartier Bethanien, Manitoba Crafts Council Gallery, Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, ASEAN Culture House, Cheongiu Craft Biennale, Hong Kong Visual Arts Center, Museum of Site, University of the Philippines Visayas, Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, University of Brunei Darussalam, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Keystone College, Mississippi University for Women, Delta State University, Gustavus Adolphus College, Texas Tech University, University of New Mexico, Cameron University, Chautauqua School of Art, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. My ceramic work has been exhibited and collected in the United States, Canada, Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Brunei, Thailand, and the Philippines. My book, The Worship of Kiln Gods: From the Temples of China to the Studios of Western Potters, was published by Outskirts Press, in July 2012.
