I love spirals! I start all of my paintings with the simple tools of a geometer’s compass and straight edge. I use images inspired by Nature, but sometimes I let my imagination play with abstract forms while using the Fibonacci number sequence to guide me in creating the framework on which I build my designs. The Fibonacci spiral is part of the deep structure of nature which can be found throughout the Universe. It can be seen in far away in the Spiral Galaxy images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. From satellite videos you can see the Fibonacci spiral forming around the eye of hurricanes. It is the force of nature which builds the Chambered Nautilus shell down to the tiniest cephalopod which slides around the forest floor on its slime trail while carrying its Spiral home on its back. It can be seen in the way the threadlike spiraling tendrils of bindweed insist on attaching themselves to our chainlink fence! Surprisingly, the Fibonacci number ratio is used as a tool for investment strategies in the Stock Market!
I have had one solo show this year and will have another solo show in the Fall of 2025 at the Urbandale Library Art Gallery. I would welcome the opportunity to show my paintings in more galleries or in private and business settings. The year 2025 is going to be especially significant for me because that is the year I will be completing my 80th trip around the Sun… and my creative juices are not slowing down!
