With more than 20 years of experience as an audio engineer, mixer, and musician, Phillip Young is a collaborator in both the Midwest music and film communities. Over the course of his career he has worked with more than 200 artists and numerous filmmakers, crafting sound for records, films, and multimedia projects throughout the region.

Phil studied at the Los Angeles Recording School and cut his teeth at the acclaimed Nightbird Studios in West Hollywood, where he worked with Noah “40” Shebib, Lil’ Wayne, Carrie Underwood, John Oates, Green Day, and other world-renowned artists. The experience provided a foundation in high-level recording and mixing that continues to shape his approach to both music production and cinematic sound.

Today, Phil is Head Audio Engineer at Trilix Studio, a state-of-the-art recording and post-production facility in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to producing and mixing music projects, he works closely with filmmakers to shape the sonic identity of visual media. From sound design and editorial through final surround re-recording mixing, he delivers audio for streaming platforms and Dolby Atmos theatrical presentation.

His work now spans both music production and film post-production, blending a record producer’s ear with a cinematic approach to sound. Whether mixing an album or building the final mix of a film, Phil focuses on creating immersive audio that supports story, emotion, and atmosphere.
