Rachel Hendel is a West Des Moines based illustrator, author, and lover of silly things creating art her younger self would’ve enjoyed – colorful, fun, and whimsical! As a queer, disabled person, representing those experiences is very important to her. She is always grateful for the opportunity to bring clients’ ideas to life with joy and care in her freelance practice. In particular, Rachel enjoys working on projects that have fantastical themes, are education focused, and/or feature inclusive stories. She greatly enjoys and hopes to pursue projects in middle grade and young adult publishing. It’s her belief that all books deserve pictures. She recently graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute with a BFA in Illustration.
Rachel offers illustration based services such as full color artwork, spot illustrations, book covers, and more. She is also comfortable with hand-lettering, poster design, and short comics. Pricing is per project and an estimate will be provided during consultation based on scope.
