The NIACC Art Program invites artists in two-dimensional media to submit proposals for exhibition in our Auditorium Gallery. Our exhibition program runs 6 weeks in the fall and spring semesters, usually from October to December and from March to May.

The Auditorium Gallery is committed to showcasing contemporary art by local, regional, and national artists. It is dedicated to encouraging and creating new works and promoting the visual arts in Mason City, Iowa.

A selection committee composed of regional art professionals will make recommendations from submissions of work for exhibition. Notifications of the jurors’ decision will be emailed to the applicants promptly.

All two-dimensional media will be considered for exhibition, including graphic design and digital print pieces. Exhibition proposals must include the following:

1. 1. A cover letter describing the proposed exhibition, any special installation requirements, potential public engagement programs, such as workshops, demonstrations, artist talks, and preferred exhibition period.

1. 1. An artist’s statement and a resume with previous exhibition records.

1. 1. Ten (10) images and corresponding titles, media, dimensions, and completed work dates. The committee will be presented with only 10 images for consideration. If the work you are submitting is for example only, please be specific in your explanation of what you propose to present in the gallery if selected. The NIACC Art Program is open to proposals for ancillary educational programs, community projects, and artist talks to coincide with the exhibition.

Artists selected for the exhibition will be expected to install their artworks one week before the exhibition opening. De-installation will take place the day after the exhibition ends. The NIACC Art program covers the costs of poster printing for each exhibition. An honorarium of $1000 is provided to the artist selected for the exhibition. All exhibits must be properly framed. The gallery walls are constructed of drywall over plywood and cannot be altered except with standard hanging hardware.
