The City of Cedar Rapids’ Public Art Commission is seeking applications by artists or artist teams to design artwork for three vinyl-wrapped traffic signal boxes along 6th Street SW. The selected artist or team would be asked to create original, site-responsive artwork that would be visually engaging from multiple directions and suitable for an all-ages public audience. The art theme for this project will be determined by engaging with the Taylor neighborhood; artists are not required to submit a design at this stage.

A total stipend of $2,100 will be provided to the selected artist for three approved final designs. This stipend is all-inclusive and covers the artist’s design time, community engagement, research, and preparation of print-ready digital files. The City will contract separately with a vendor to print and install the wraps from digital files submitted by the artist.
