Artist proposals sought for outdoor mural

The City of Cedar Rapids and the City of Cedar Rapids Public Art Commission seek proposals from imaginative artists or artist teams for a site-specific outdoor mural, which will be located on the exterior walls of a new pump station overlooking the Cedar River.

This project aims to transform a functional utility building into a public art landmark, enhancing the visual appeal of the area and engaging the community through creative expression and education.

The mural will be featured on the exterior walls of the new pump station in Five Seasons Park, a prominent and highly visible area in downtown. The park is currently being redesigned as part of ongoing flood mitigation efforts and is expected to reopen in October 2026.
