Learn More About This Opportunity

We are excited to be launching our second cohort of artist partnerships in this grant-funded project with Des Moines Public Schools!

The aim of the Teaching Artist Partnership, TAP, is to support artists and teaching artists at all levels by providing a way to expand your existing practice as an artist or teacher to include specific Arts Integration strategies and teaching opportunities which in turn will support learners in the elementary classrooms of Des Moines Public Schools.

The website is a great place to learn more about the program:

PROGRAM GOALS:
Our goal is to build on the incredible work already happening in our community and offer more opportunities for artists to collaborate with schools during the school day. We also hope this project helps create sustainable, paid work in the arts for all involved.

Through online modules and in-person workshop days, we’ll explore what Arts Integration means and work together to create lesson plans tailored to your artistic medium. Once we’ve developed and refined these lessons, teaching artists will have the chance to partner with teachers in Des Moines schools to bring arts-based curriculum projects to life.

Ideally, focus on lesson planning, classroom dynamics, pacing and informal assessment will be applicable to any future teaching and thus help build your teaching practice to contribute to the community work artists are already doing!

COMPENSATION:
Teaching artists who complete the learning modules, in-person training sessions, and lesson planning will be compensated $500 for their time. In addition, you’ll also be paid for your time spent teaching in the classroom.

I’ve attached a flyer with more details about upcoming in-person learning.
Please feel free to share it with your networks! I am eager to answer any questions about this opportunity and help you discover if this program is a good fit for you.
