FilmScene

FilmScene is Iowa City’s nonprofit cinema, with a mission to challenge, inspire, educate, and entertain our diverse communities through the shared discovery of film. Each year we show more than 450 films to the delight of more than 80,000 film lovers at our two locations (with five theaters) in downtown Iowa City.

We play new release films, arthouse classics, little seen films out of the archive, and much more. We have more than a dozen ongoing series plus our Refocus Film Festival, celebrating the art of adaptation on the big screen each fall.
