Alejandra Alvarez (b. 1987) is an Artist (BFA, 2013), Designer (BA Industrial Design, 2015 and Interior Design, 2008) and Artisan (Silversmith and Woodworker 2019) from Colombia currently based in Iowa City. This multidisciplinary background provides a holistic approach where matter, form, text and context are explored as part of her creative process. She has a curious hands-on personality, which can be perceived both in person and through her artwork. Each piece she creates seeks to spark the curiosity of the beholder, leading from contemplation to conversation.

Her multidisciplinary creations combine different mediums and techniques. Among her work you’ll find Printmaking, Metalsmithing (brass and silver), handbound notebooks, Drawings and Paintings (analog and digital). Other larger format pieces she’s worked on are Scenery design and props for theatre plays, chalk art, murals and sculpted pieces.

Design wise, she has working knowledge in video edition (Premiere and After Effects), Digital photography retouching and edition. 3D rendering and modeling. Savvy in softwares such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign), Autocad and Rhino,

Use this section to get the parent/child taxonomies for a single post being viewed

The above pulls in each of the parents within the artist-discipline taxonomy , which is good, if I want to display them alone without their children.

I need to probably display these like this:

Dance: Ballroom, General, Hip Hop, Jazz.

Design: General, Graphic

Will need to figure out how to return the sub categories (artist-discipline) for each parent individually and then loop through all parents assigned to the CPT (artist) being viewed.

In this section I was able to successfully pull all sub categories that belongs to the 2 parents selected. This could be good if I was trying to show all possible choices under that parent, but what I really need is to pull just the selected ones back.
