Jonathan & Allison Metzger are a husband and wife team that create hand-pulled, limited edition silkscreen and monotype collage images. Compelled to create work that is inspired by their own experiences with nature, they visually explore the vast and diverse American Landscape.

As a collaborative team, they are invested in creating work that explores how we, as humans, interact with the natural environment. They create images that revel in the natural world.

Within their artistic process, Allison & Jonathan create hand-cut and drawn stencils as the basis for their images, shapes, and forms. Using a wide variety of media within this process allows them to push and explore the potentials of traditional printmaking.

Jonathan starts out with the initial drawing, and they perfect the composition together, then hand draw each separate color stencil. Allison creates the color palette and hand-mixes all the colors, then they work together to hand-pull each color layer in their home studio.

Artist influences include the great masters of American Modernism such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Marsden Hartley, and Aaron Douglas.
