Annie is committed to performance, research and classroom teaching at the nexus of inclusion, creativity, and lifetime musicianship. Her strategy has been to research current music education phenomena based on the intersectionality of formal and informal music experiences in her own life and produce data that has shown there are systemic barriers to full participation and engagement on behalf of most students in public schooling. She has taken this data and designed currica like Hear My Voice and Free-Strings in order to attempt to reach a higher number and quality of engaged students through digital music, songwriting, rapping, beat making, improvising, and chord reading. Her methods have succeeded in balancing racial participation rates in school music programs and her students have co-created unique performances to sold out shows across the country. Many of these students are now in music education and continue the vision of music for all- music for life.
Annie is available for performances with her award winning band, The Savage Hearts, creative string clinics, and consulting.
