Client Work // Services for Artists, Individuals, & Businesses

I provide a number of photographic services for clients. My clients include individual artists, arts institutions, musicians, non-profit organizations, and small businesses. As an artist, I excel most when working with other artists and creatives. Here is a brief listing of my primary areas of expertise:

  • exhibition + installation documentation
  • individual documentation of artworks
  • documentation of performance art
  • creative portraits
  • music photography
  • event photography

My clients include the Des Moines Art Center, Group Creative, Interfaith Alliance of Iowa, the Iowa Arts Council, Iowa Public Radio, the Iowa State Historical Society, Little Village Magazine, and Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.

Personal Work // Artist Statement

I use image-making to confront my fear of vulnerability while exploring intimacy, ways of seeing, and the expansive possibilities of creating photo-based art. The performative action necessary to create an image is often a part of the content of my work. My self portraiture began as an exploration of the tangle of historical tropes, cultural expectations, and personal control that comes with representing the queer, female body. I have since expanded this inquiry into a rediscovery of the materiality of the photographic print.

For my most-recent work, I print large-format photographs of myself, tear them, and rephotograph myself with the fragments. I am curious as to how the process of collage disrupts the gaze and whether or not this disruption influences how viewers interpret my (literal) body and body of work.

Use this section to get the parent/child taxonomies for a single post being viewed

The above pulls in each of the parents within the artist-discipline taxonomy , which is good, if I want to display them alone without their children.
Terms: Installation
Terms: Photography
Terms: Visual

I need to probably display these like this:

Dance: Ballroom, General, Hip Hop, Jazz.

Design: General, Graphic

Will need to figure out how to return the sub categories (artist-discipline) for each parent individually and then loop through all parents assigned to the CPT (artist) being viewed.

In this section I was able to successfully pull all sub categories that belongs to the 2 parents selected. This could be good if I was trying to show all possible choices under that parent, but what I really need is to pull just the selected ones back.
