I make a floral sculpture from cartridge brass by cutting it in different ways that opens the brass into a flower-like design. This is attached to a brass rod which creates a flower. A grouping of these flowers are placed in a revolver cylinder used as a base and other items are sometimes added to compliment the grouping. Each sculpture is unique, as no two brass cases result in the same look, even though the process is the same. Each piece seems to have a personality of its own. The base cylinder is sometimes left in its as-found condition and sometimes it is polished and heated to create a color variation. Again, varying with the process.
The content of each sculpture can be determine by the parts used, but the end result is always different. This guarantees each piece will be unique.
I can and have produced a sculpture to reflect a recipient’s specific request. This can be reminiscent of an experience or vocation, such as law enforcement, military sniper, etc., thereby personalizing the sculpture.
