Carrie Pozdol is an actor, director, and intimacy choreographer working mainly in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. Carrie graduated in 2000 with a BA in theatre from Simpson College, then spent the next decade living and working in Chicago, IL. While there, she collaborated with Red Tape, Tinfish, MidTangent, Gorilla Tango, Pyewacket, and Appetite Theatres, as well as taking additional training classes with Annoyance Theatre and Acting Studio Chicago. Since moving to Cedar Rapids, Carrie has been seen onstage with Theatre Cedar Rapids, Mirrorbox Theatre, City Circle Theatre, and the University of Iowa. Carrie also has screen experience in both independent film and industrial film. In 2020, she started training as an Intimacy Choreographer and Coordinator with Theatrical Intimacy Education (TIE) and Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC), and became a certified Artistic Mental Health Practitioner through the Association of Mental Health Coordinators. Notable stage roles as an actor include performing the role of Emmaline Pankhurst in the world premiere of the new musical “The Suffragist” at the Strayer-Wood Theatre and the role of Annie Wilkes in “Misery” at Theatre Cedar Rapids. Notable productions she has directed include the Iowa Premiere of “Cycle Play” by Megan Tabaque and a new adaptation of “A Doll’s House” at Theatre Cedar Rapids. She has done work as an intimacy choreographer/director on 43 productions and counting. Carrie is dedicated to creating grounded, human characters and building collaborative, trauma informed working environments where artists can thrive.
