Haley McAndrews, an award-winning artist from central Iowa, was born in South Carolina. She was introduced to Adobe Photoshop as a teenager, and much of what she learned about digital painting was self-taught. In 2009, McAndrews graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Art Photography. She also paints traditionally with watercolors and acrylics; however, her first artistic love has always been drawing.

In addition to visual arts, McAndrews is also a writer. She launched the Red Stone Art Studio Blog in the spring of 2022. She has written and illustrated two children’s picture books, with her third scheduled for release Summer 2024. Also set for publication is her first book of illustrated poetry, Toaster Haiku (available April 1, 2024.)

McAndrews has been writing (non-illustrated) fiction under the name D.C. McAndrews since 2021.

In her free time McAndrews enjoys reading, hunting for geocaches, and listening to many different kinds of music. She also loves late-night cartoons and vampires.

Use this section to get the parent/child taxonomies for a single post being viewed

The above pulls in each of the parents within the artist-discipline taxonomy , which is good, if I want to display them alone without their children.
Terms: Childrens
Terms: Fiction
Terms: Illustration
Terms: Illustration/Drawing
Terms: Literary Arts
Terms: Mixed Media
Terms: Painting
Terms: Photography
Terms: Visual

I need to probably display these like this:

Dance: Ballroom, General, Hip Hop, Jazz.

Design: General, Graphic

Will need to figure out how to return the sub categories (artist-discipline) for each parent individually and then loop through all parents assigned to the CPT (artist) being viewed.

In this section I was able to successfully pull all sub categories that belongs to the 2 parents selected. This could be good if I was trying to show all possible choices under that parent, but what I really need is to pull just the selected ones back.
