Juliana Jones is an Experimental Artist who primarily works with 2-dimensional paper. Through painting, cutting, ripping, folding and layering, she transforms them into 3-dimensional experiences. And the occasional addition of light and movement brings the art to life. Ultimately, she’s on a mission to return to Never Never Land and take as many people as she can with her.
Juliana is a wife, mother, website developer, artist and overall tinkerer. In art school, she trained and experimented in many different mediums to express her creativity, from drawing, painting, and sculpting to computer graphics, web development, and 3D animation. She took her creativity into a career in Graphic Design and Website Development. Yet her strong desire to once again physically create with her hands has brought her back to her artistic practice. It has given her a new way to express untapped thoughts and emotions. She hopes that her art invites people to play and inspires them to let their light shine bright.
Her art has been shown at juried art shows and festivals including “Greater Des Moines Exhibited XXVI” (The Polk County Heritage Gallery, Downtown Des Moines, IA), Octagon Art Festival (Downtown Ames, IA), as a solo installation at the Ames Chamber of Commerce (Downtown Ames, IA), and in a Downtown Ames window display for the Octagon’s “Outrage to Change” event in 2020. Her work won a “Best in Show” honorable mention at the “Octagon Art Festival” in 2019 and is part of the public collection at Ames City Hall. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Animation from The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
