I’m an oil painter focusing on landscapes in the rural Midwest. With my landscapes, I like to show not only the natural world, but the human influence as well. Many times, I choose to show how landscapes are worked by humanity only to have it revert back to nature over time. I also show animals as they coexist with humans and adapt to man-made surroundings. My paintings are done on mahogany panels, building up thin layers of paint. Working smoothly with soft brushes to accomplish a hard surface and unflinching lines, I can achieve minute detail and clarity. Notable awards: Finalist in The Artist’s Magazine’s competition, twice; prizes in Oil Painter’s of America, and National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society. Collections: Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Lions Eye Bank IU Hospital, and Iowa National Bankshares. Notable Exhibits: Voices, Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, Indian Hills, The Pump House, Figge Art Museum. I show at outdoor art fairs around the Midwest, have open houses through ARRT Scenic Art Loop, yearly shows through Bellevue Art Council, and do business and private commissions. Most recent commission was with NowArt based in Los Angels which resulted in my art installed in a Davenport Walmart.
