I’m a ceramic artist living just north of Ames, IA where I’ve created a wonderful studio in a 2,000 sqft Morton building. The studio includes 8 potter’s wheels (2 manual, 6 electric), two electric kilns, spray booth, three large tables for hand building, and coming soon are two more kilns (raku and wood). Classes and workshops are offered to the Ames/Gilbert/Story City area. Topics include: beginning and advanced wheel throwing, hand building, decorating techniques, raku firing, and wood firing (coming next year!). Current and upcoming classes/workshops will be listed on my website and announced on social media (Facebook/Instagram)
Along with teaching, I also find time to produce my own work. I use both wheel and hand building techniques to create functional pots that are quite unique. I often alter the shapes and/or add a lot of textures to reflect shapes/textures I enjoy seeing outside in nature. Having grown up working on a orchard farm and now living next to farm fields, plants have a large influence on my work. I often include plant shapes, colors, and I try to capture their movement. The end result is a wonderful collection of functional pottery that brings bright colors and natural shapes into your home.
Attached to the shop is a large sunroom where my work is displayed for purchase. If you are interested in visiting my studio, please send me a message to setup an appointment.
