I have had a lifelong interest in a variety of artistic endeavors and have experimented in a number of different mediums over the years. This has included taking painting, ceramic, jewelry and metal sculpture classes. Most recently, though, I have been drawn to the natural beauty of wood, especially when it comes highlighting imperfections and/or unique patterns and grains that can be found in many wood species.
Given this, I am creating artistic pieces (i.e., wall-hangings and sculptures) using a variety of wood species, with walnut and cherry being two of my favorites. Other species I have been working with include maple, oak, ash, cypress, hickory and zebrawood; and I often mix and match them for visual diversity. I have also made a number of functional tables, as well as decorative wall-hangings that can serve as shelves for candles, plants, etc. In all cases – whether it is meant to be art or something for the home or office – I want my creations to showcase the natural beauty of the woods used and highlight any unique features of that particular piece.
All of my pieces are for sale; and I am open to talking to individuals interested in a custom piece for their home or office. Moving forward, I plan to continue experimenting with new woods and designs and am also interested in doing much larger pieces. Another focus will be on finding more ways to incorporate metal, stone and concrete into my work.
