With a lifelong interest in a variety of artistic endeavors, my most recent works are handcrafted wood art – all created in my garage at home. My wall hangings showcase different wood species utilizing a variety of cuts and shapes. Some highlight organic, live edge elements of the wood, while others feature more contemporary lines and symmetry. The same goes for sculptures – some highlight unique, organic features of the wood, while others are more abstract and utilize traditional cuts or shapes. In all cases, different types of wood – both native to Iowa and some exotic – are used to create visual interest and diversity. Copper is also frequently used as an accent and element to help provide connections and/or subtle contrasts. I strive to create one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the unique beauty and characteristics of the wood(s) being used. My favorite woods to work with include Walnut, Cherry, Apple and Ash, but other frequent species include Maple, Oak, Cypress, Hickory, Zebrawood, and more.
All of my work is available for purchase and I am open to doing commissions. I can be contacted via email or messaged on Instagram or LinkedIn if there is an interest in connecting and learning more about my work.
