By transforming wispy wool fiber into soft, strong felt, Megan Hammer explores the potential for harmony and collaboration with nature. She embraces the natural textures of wet-felted wool and presents intricate needle-felted details, examining themes of conservation and change through vibrant botanical studies and landscapes. A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa (BA, Studio Art), Megan has exhibited her felted fine art in galleries and art festivals throughout the Midwest. Recent exhibitions of her work include the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, SD, and the Oskaloosa Art Center.
Megan is passionate about sharing her creative process while encouraging an appreciation for nature, and has been a featured instructor for organizations such as the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, Polk County Conservation, and the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival in Colorado. Megan can be found gathering inspiration from her surroundings, whether wandering the wild prairie, or weeding her backyard flower garden. She lives in Urbandale, Iowa with her husband and two young sons.
Megan offers unique fiber art workshops, creative DIY needle-felting kits, and is also open for felted fine art commissions. Find more info on her website at www.meganhammer.com, or email meganhammerart@gmail.com for inquiries.
