– Megan Wassom is a general surgery physician assistant in Mason City, Iowa, whose artistic practice is deeply informed by her background in science, medicine, and faith. Originally from Royal, IA, she holds a BS in biomedical science from Buena Vista University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from St. Ambrose University. Megan’s mixed media artwork explores themes of humanity, individuality, and perception, often inspired by the people she encounters—patients, mentors, and loved ones alike. Her experimental style blends abstract and contemporary elements to offer viewers a unique and layered perspective on everyday life. She believes that, like people, art is made of many parts, and through her work she seeks to reflect the extraordinary within the ordinary.
