I am a Des Moines based artist born and raised in Iowa. I earned my BFA with an emphasis in drawing, painting and printmaking from Iowa State University. I have 30+ years of artistic experience including 10+ years instructing.

I have dabbled in many artistic mediums, however, acrylic painting is my medium of choice and the one that has suited me best throughout the years. My works range from nature to abstract, pet portraits and painted furniture.

I also provide painting experiences and events (under the trade name Inner Artist) to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities. I believe everyone is creative. My goal is to bring that creativity to the surface and help nurture that creative side to increase confidence with painting in a relaxed and casual way.

Commission work is accepted for pet portraits, revamped furniture, murals and more. I have painted on various objects and surfaces throughout my career. My philosophy is that it doesn’t hurt to ask. If you are in need of an acrylic painter for a project, I will consider, if it is within my abilities. 

A few of my artistic experiences include children’s art instructor for Octagon Center for the Arts, painter for Sticks Object Art & Furniture, painting instructor for Pinot’s Palette, commission painting for the set of Alliant Energy’s Powerhouse television show, juror for the Iowa State Fair fine art exhibition and 3rd place winner in acrylic in the 4th Annual Trekell Juried Pet Portrait Competition.

In working as an Activities Coordinator in a senior living facility for eight years, I had the wonderful experience of leading paint classes with residents in various levels of care. Assisting those who had never painted before and bringing painting back to artistic individuals who hadn’t created in many years was very rewarding. People of all ages and all abilities can benefit from participating in making art.
