ASAP, the After School Arts Program, is a nonprofit organization in Des Moines that provides high-quality, no-cost arts instruction for young people who may otherwise lack access to arts programs outside of school because of barriers like cost, transportation, and perceived non-belonging. ASAP hires and trains Teaching Artists (TAs) in all arts disciplines, and schedules them for short-term teaching contracts per their availability and matching community need. Opportunities exist year-round, most in 6- to 8-week sessions (Fall 1, Fall 2, Winter, Spring, Summer), and most take place where kids already ARE in out-of-school times: in public schools, parks, community centers, and/or libraries. ASAP provides all supplies (no out-of-pocket expenses for you!) and pays a teaching stipend of $50/contact hour at the end of each session. Orientation and background check are required. ASAP recruits new TAs on an ongoing basis and has heightened need NOW, as demand for programming is stronger than ever. Please contact Robin@asap-dsm.org to learn more about ASAP’s opportunities.
