The Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), or Think Iowa City, was established in 1983 and is the Iowa City area’s official destination management organization. Its goal is to attract more visitors, meetings, groups, and events to the area through destination marketing, outreach and facilitation.
What We Do
- Attract new events, groups, and meetings to the community
- Provide service and support to existing and repeat events, groups, and meetings
- Execute and plan events to generate more visitor traffic
- Provide comprehensive visitor resources of local information
As a private, nonprofit corporation, Think Iowa City is guided by a 15-member board representing the CVB partnership; the city councils of Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty; the University of Iowa; Johnson County Board of Supervisors; and the area’s hospitality industry.
Tourism is one of the top industries in Iowa, supporting thousands of jobs and generating millions in tax revenues. Travel-generated expenditures in Johnson County totaled $412 million, of $8.5 billion within the state of Iowa in 2017. Tourism-related jobs account for $66 million in earnings for our county.
